Legion:Ensuring Africa's sustainabilty.

Vision

An Africa with inclusive growth and sustainable development.

Mission

Ensure the sustainable exploitation of African Resources.

Our Story

Africa's economic growth and urbanization should be guided by appropriate planning and land use management at continental, regional, national, sub-national, and local scales. This is to ensure that Africa's new towns, cities and rural areas are effective in terms of meeting the basic needs of all their inhabitants; and to ensure that economic and social growth are inclusive.Legion exists to provide the Spatial analysis needed to actualize Africa's Agenda 2063 by 2035-2040.

Through a combination of spatial analysis techniques and technology,we hope to:-

  • Develop a framework for the utility infrastructure needed to run the market

  • Promote territorial cohesion through a more balanced social and economic development of regions, and improved competitiveness.

  • Encourage development generated by urban functions and improve the relationship between the town and countryside.

  • Promote more balanced accessibility.

  • Develop access to African geo-spatial information and knowledge.

  • Minimize environmental damage.

  • Enhance and protect natural resources and natural heritage.

  • Enhance cultural heritage as a factor for development.

  • Encourage high-quality, sustainable tourismt.

  • Limit the impact of natural disasterst.

Spatial planning is a key instrument for establishing long-term, sustainable frameworks for social, territorial and economic development both within and between countries. Its primary role is to enhance the integration between sectors such as housing, transport, energy and industry, and to improve national and local systems of urban and rural development, also taking into account environmental considerations.

Effective spatial planning helps to avoid the duplication of efforts by actors such as government departments, commercial developers, communities and individuals. This is of great importance, as many of the above issues are of a cross-sectoral nature and therefore should be treated as such.

Achieving the African Renaissance demands the sustainable and equitable use of the continents resources in meeting the demands of the community, market and government on the African Geo-space.
